SpendWisely guide

How SpendWisely works

From the numbers you enter to a 30-day forecast — and what the app can and cannot tell you.

1. You enter your starting point

After sign-up at spendwisely.co.uk, you (or the SpendWisely AI guide) add your current balance, income (weekly, monthly, or irregular), and commitments — rent, bills, subscriptions, and BNPL instalments. There is no bank connection and no Open Banking login.

2. We project 30 days ahead

SpendWisely rolls your income and commitments forward day by day. Weekend and UK bank-holiday rules apply: payments that banks would not take until the next working day stay visible on your timeline so your forecast does not pretend money is free when it is still spoken for. Read about weekend balances.

3. Daily spend limits (optional)

For weekly or variable pay, you can set flexible daily spend limits so you know how much is safe to use between paydays. Budgeting on weekly pay explains the approach.

4. Spending Impact before you buy

Before a one-off purchase, Spending Impact shows your balance on the purchase date and at month-end — with and without the spend — so you can see if you would cross a threshold or overdraft.

5. BNPL and commitments on one timeline

Klarna, Clearpay, and other instalment plans sit alongside direct debits and standing orders. Track BNPL in your budget before instalments land.

Limitations — please read

  • The forecast is an estimate based on what you enter. It is not a live bank balance and cannot see transactions you have not recorded.
  • SpendWisely is not FCA-authorised and does not provide personalised financial advice.
  • If your income or bills change, update the app — the forecast only stays accurate when your inputs do.

Longer reads: forecast versus hoping it will be okay, and Slack and Notion cash digests.
